Proceedings of Inception Meeting of Project Area
Mapping through GIS technology under JICA Project awarded to
RMSI, Noida held in the Conference Hall, of Aranya Bhavan on the
24th June, 09.
An inception meeting of the Project component, “Preparation of
Project area mapping through the GIS technology” awarded to the
RMSI, Noida was held in the conference hall of Aranya Bhavan,
Agartala on the 24th June, 09 at 4 P.M under the chairmanship of
the PCCF Tripura and the list of participants present in the
meeting is appended at Appendix I.
The meeting was started with a presentation by Mr Subrato Paul,
representative from RMSI, Noida who provided details about the
methodology, time schedule, data requirement, deliverables etc
for execution of the work assigned to the Organization. The RMSI
representative further explained the methodology that shall be
adopted and elaborated that the pre-geo-referenced Land Sat
images, field based DGPS points as well as other ancillary
information would be used as inputs. The Contours and Slope of
the project area shall be derived from stereo-satellite ASTER
images and thus there shall not be any dependence on
topographical maps. And for political boundary information, the
RMSI requested for supply of the following maps,
a. Administrative boundary map
b. Forest Administrative boundary map
c. Forest Boundary (Reserve/Protected) map
d. Mauza map at 1”=4 Mile map scale
After the detailed presentation and discussion the following
decisions emerged in the meeting,
• 4 sets of maps shall be provided by the CF (WRT) to RMSI by
2nd week of July 2009.
• The Department shall provide 2 staff members from 2nd week 09
of July to help RMSI in visits to the field. The RMSI shall
inform in advance the exact schedule of work plan of the field
work for DGPS survey and ground truthing for satellite based
classification and accordingly the field personnel shall be
deployed. This would also develop capacity of the two staff in
GPS and Remote Sensing survey work also.
• The deliverables shall be provided in the format where it can
be worked upon even after the completion of the project. Since
RMSI shall be providing the datasets in shape of files and in
raw form so these can also be exported to any other GIS platform
readily.
• RMSI shall submit the detailed Plan of Action for entire
duration of Project Area Mapping by 30th June 2009.
• The Project Area mapping work shall be taken up over 7023 km2
of the area which is actually the Project area. It does not
include district of Dhalai and parts of North Tripura District,
which falls within the project area of Indo German Project. Sh.
Budhi DebBarma Dy.CF representing the Indo German Project,
showed keenness to assign the work of project area mapping to
the Firm for the area under the Indo-German project details of
which shall be worked out later.
• The RMSI shall submit quotation for the works that shall fall
within the Indo-German Project area to the Project executing
Head separately.
• The meeting was concluded tanking the PCCF and other Officers
present in the meeting.
