Minutes of the meeting to review of progress of works of the
Tripura JICA Project and its link for development of Bamboo
sector held under the chairmanship of the Hon’ble Minister for
Forests, Govt. of Tripura on the 8th September, 09 at 10.30 A.M
The Hon’ble Minister for Forests chaired a meeting to chart out
the roadmap for development of Eco Tourism, review the progress
of works of the Tripura JICA Project and its link with the
bamboo sector in his office chamber in the Secretariat, Agartala
on the 8th September 2009 at 10.30 A.M. The meeting was attended
by,
1. The PCCF, Govt. of Tripura.
2. The CEO & P.D, Tripura JICA Project.
3. The Chief Wildlife Warden, Govt. of Tripura.
4. The Director, NTFP Centre of Excellence. Tripura
5. The Director (Adm & Fin.) Tripura JICA Project.
6. The Executive Director, TFD&PC Ltd. Tripura.
7. The Director, Ind. & Commerce, Govt. of Tripura &
Member Secretary, Tripura Bamboo Mission.
8. The Director, Handloom, Handicraft & Sericulture Development,
Tripura.
The Director (Adm. & Fin) through power point hardcopy presented
the roadmap for development of ecotourism in the state together
with the strength and potential that the state possess to show
case the ecotourism destinations. That through establishment of
the Ecotourism Board the ecotourism shall get desired boost and
could be a tool for development of livelihood opportunities was
explained in the meeting. The action that the Directorate of NCE
and Tripura Bamboo Mission have taken to develop the bamboo
sector was discussed and reviewed in the meeting and after
detailed discussion the following decisions emerged in the
meeting:
• A concept note for establishment of the Tripura Ecotourism
Development Board shall be prepared by the Director (Adm & Fin.)
and placed before the Hon’ble Forest Minister within two weeks’
time.
• The Tripura JICA Project shall explore the possibility of
taking over the Tourism Directorate assets (Buildings etc.)
lying unutilized at Nalchhar for use as a part of the ecotourism
destination in near future. The possibility of transforming the
unutilized facility into a handicraft village shall be explored.
• The ONGC abandoned site at Kaladhepha can be transformed into
broom stick or Agarbatti stick go down and the Member Secretary,
Bamboo Mission may explore the possibility of transforming it
and put it to use. He is advised to contact the respective ADC
Village Committees and BAC for the same.
• Nabincherra in between Panisagar and Pecharthal in North
Tripura could be an ideal site for establishment of a CCFC
handicraft cluster and the Director, HHS shall take immediate
necessary action for its establishment in the selected location.
• Ganganagar in Dhalai District is identified for establishment
of one CCFC and required action shall be taken for its
establishment by the Director HHS.
• Formation of committee for establishment of CCFC Clusters in
the following locations shall be completed by the 15thOctober,
2009 so that the construction work may start from November,
2009. The locations are Nabincherra, Ganganagar, Chakmaghat,
Kaladhepa, Takarjala and Nalchhar. Bamboo pre-fabricated
structure with pucca flooring shall be constructed through the
Arunachal Pradesh based firm of NMBA.
• The Director, Industries & Commerce shall arrange a meeting
with the handicraft items exporters in the conference hall of
the new Secretariat building at Agartala on the 19th September,
2009 at 11 a.m.
• The Director HHS shall provide details of the amount of Rs. 68
Lakhs utilized during 2007-08 for establishment of the handloom
cluster to the Forest Department at the earliest.
• The Director NCE shall take needful steps for establishment of
a bamboo items display corner in the Offices of the Hon’ble
Chief Minister & Forest Minister in the newly constructed
Secretariat at Kunjavan, Agartala.
• The Director NCE shall prepare a roadmap by the end of the
current month for development of the NCE activities including
due emphasis on bamboo, honey etc produces.
• Director, NCE shall carry out action research through
establishment of Bamboo Research Centres including bamboo setum
in Kaladhepa and Killa of the Southern and Udaipur Divisions
respectively. And in North Tripura it shall be established at
Dudhpur.
• The NCE activities shall cover at least 10000 families through
production, value addition and sale of bamboo products in the
state in a timeline to be fixed by the Director NCE.
