The Forest Department, Govt. of Tripura has entered into an agreement with the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) for implementation of the Tripura Forest Environmental Protection & Poverty Alleviation Project (TFIPAP) in 07 Divisions and 03 Wildlife Sanctuaries of the state for a period of eight years from FY 2007-08.

2. The mechanism of the Joint Forest Management is the central theme of all the forestry activities of the state and the said concept would be followed in implementation of the JBIC project in the state and accordingly it is hereby notified for information of all concerned that the project activities of the Tripura JBIC project for the FY 2007-08 shall be implemented in the identified 53 JFMC villages (list annexed) in 07 Division and 03 Wildlife Sanctuaries of the state as appended below.

3. It is essential to initiate the preparatory works of demarcation of the area after ground survey and mapping. The territorial Conservators of Forests, Divisional Forest Officers and the Wildlife Wardens under whose jurisdiction the project area falls are hereby advised to take up the preparatory works immediately in consultation and with the active support of the Zilla Parishad and Pancayat Samitis of the concerned area as the case may be in the identified 53 JFMC areas where cluster approach would be adopted for implementation of the Project. All the hamlets near the selected village/Gram Panchayat should be included for undertaking the project works. The DFOs/WLWs are requested to initiate the preparatory works immediately.
